This week we look at STRUMMING. Using the 16 chord block (the chords of E, A, B7, D, G, and C).
We go through the chords strumming 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and ('1234' are downstrokes, and the 'ands' are always upstrokes)

Basic stuff, but absolutely vital foundational steps to your future guitar playing. These are the beginning stages of becoming confident with chord shapes and patterns to enable you to play and change chords effortlessly and in time. Keep practicing!

Session 4 of the teaching basic guitar podcast -  from scratch!
Full time guitar teacher Andy Read takes on Jane as student, and this week focus on page 6 and 7 of the Guitar Steps course book (purchased as a hard copy or downloaded in pdf format from www.guitarsteps.com or viewed on the podcast website www.andyread.libsyn.com).
Today we will look primarily at the 16 chord block. Learning to change between the different chords of E, A, B7, D, C, G, and generally getting used to chord shapes and patterns.

It's the third session of teaching basic guitar from full time guitar teacher Andy Read. He takes you  (and student Jane) from absolute scratch, and slowly and surely gives you confidence and ability on the instrument. Taking everything back to basics, Andy draws on his incredible wealth of experience of teaching over 100 students per week for the last 10 years to bring the method to a far more global audience. He has had time to road test, perfect, and refine these steps so that they are easy to follow, and simple to understand.
